Disconnect & troubleshooting

Removing a connection from an AI client stops that client from using its configured connection. Do not assume this also revokes the token at Getsitecontrol.

To revoke the access, open your profile in Getsitecontrol and disconnect the app under Connected apps.

Changing your Getsitecontrol password disconnects every app you connected. Apps connected by other users and API keys keep working.

Check the server address:

MCP server URL

https://api.getsitecontrol.com/v1/mcp

This is different from the REST base URL and the OpenAPI document URL.

Confirm that the client supports remote MCP with OAuth. An API key is not accepted by MCP: it is for the REST API.

Check that the flow returned to your client and that the connection is enabled for the conversation. You do not need a client ID or secret; in Claude, keep Use Claude’s published identity. If the client still requests manual OAuth registration details, contact support with the client name and version.

Avoid repeated login attempts after a rate-limit response. Wait for the retry period.

The connection uses your current user permissions. Ask the assistant to list accessible sites and verify the chosen site. A connection cannot grant permissions your user does not have.

Read the explanation and suggested next step. For a change whose outcome is unclear, inspect the current state before repeating it. Do not assume a timeout means nothing happened.

For a widget change, ask the assistant whether the draft was saved. Until it is, the widget on your site is unchanged.

If you contact support through the chat in your Getsitecontrol dashboard, include the client name, approximate time, and error text without credentials or personal data.
